I said: 'O Messenger of Allah (SAW),
call upon Allah if and let ample provisions be granted
for your followers. Surely the Persians and the Romans
have been given abundance of wealth though they do not
worship Allah (SWT)'. 'O son of Khattab,' he replied.
'They are a people for whom their pleasures have been
hastened in this worldly life!
In another narration Rasoolullah (SAW)
states:
'Are you not satisfied that for them there should be this world
and for us the Hereafter?' (Mishkatul Masdbeeh)
Fear and anxiety are two of the greatest
enemies of mental health. There is nothing so harmful to
one's mental balance as worry concerning what will happen
in the future. Muslims strong in faith do not worry
because we cannot know our future. The future is known
only to Allah "if. This is why it is impossible for us to
judge what will be good for us in the future:
'Warfare is prescribed for you, and that is distasteful to you,
but may be that you are averse to a thing while it is good for
you and maybe you like a thing while it is bad for you, Allah
knows but you do not know.' (2:216)
'Umar Ibnul Khattab (RA) reported: I heard
the Messenger of Allah (SAW) say: 'If you had all relied
upon Allah (SWT) with implicit trust, He would have
certainly given you your livelihood as He supplies
provisions to the birds who awake hungry in the morning
and return with a full belly at dusk! (Tirmizi, Ibne
Majah).
Aboo Zar (RA) reported that the Messenger
of Allah (SAW) said: 'Surely I know a verse of the
Glorious Qur'an if people would have followed it, it
would have sufficed them: 'And whoso fears Allah, He will
give him provision from where he knows not.' (Ahmad, Ibne
Majah)
Ibne Mas'ood (RA) reported: 'The Messenger
of Allah (SAW) read out to me: 'Surely Allah is the Great
Giver of sustenance possessing absolute power, the
Almighty! (Aboo Ddwood, Tirmizi)
A coward has no true faith in Allah (SWT)
because he fears creation and not the Creator. The Muslim
fears only Allah if and is certain He is sufficient as
his protector. Allah (SWT) is always here to protect us
and since our death has already been predetermined,
nobody can cause our death before its allotted time.
Belief in this doctrine gives the believer courage and
strength of mind.
Jabbir (RA) reported that he fought
alongside the Prophet (SAW) near Najd and when the
Prophet (SAW) returned he returned with him. Then a
midday sleep overtook themin a valley full thorny trees.
The people spread out in search of trees for shade and
Rasoolullah (SAW) settled down under a Samura tree and
hung his sword on it. We slept for a while when
Rasoolullah (SAW) called us and there was a desert Arab
near him. Rasoolullah (SAW) said: 'This bedouin took my
sword out of its sheath while I was asleep. When I woke
up, the naked sword was in his hand and he said to me,
'Who can save you from me?' I said: 'Allah,' three
times!
Rasoolullah (SAW) did not punish him and he sat down!
(Bukhdri)
In another narration it is mentioned that
the bedouin returned to his people and said: 'I have come
to you from the best of men.' - Whatever happens the
genuine Muslim takes positive, and constructive action.
If it is a good thing, he will exploit its advantages. If
it is a calamity he should think only of its positive
side for there is a lesson in every experience. When a
Muslim is afflicted by some inevitable tragedy, he
accepts it with utter resignation.
'Say: Never shall (anything) come to us but what Allah (SWT)
has ordained, for us. He is our Lord Protector and upon Allah
(SWT) should the believers rely.' (9:51)
Those who believe in Islam possess
everything they need to make them happy. The word 'Islam'
in Arabic literally means 'peace'; peace with Allah
(SWT), peace with one's self, peace with one's fellow
beings and eternal peace in the Life
Hereafter.
