The scholars have interpreted this Hadith by saying that according to the recognized rules of Shari'ah every good deed is rewarded ten times more thawab of it's origin, therefore, the thawab of 30 days of Ramadhan amounts to the thawab of fasting for 300 days. If the fasts of Ramadhan are followed by six more fasts, they carry the thawab of 60 days more, raising the aggregate thawab to 360, which is the number of the days in one year according to the Islamic calendar.

Therefore, the Muslims should take this opportunity of acquiring such an enormous reward from Allah. It is more preferable to start these fasts from the 2nd of Shaw'wal and keep fasting unto the 7th of it. However if, they are kept in other days, it is hoped that the requirement of the above Hadith may also be fulfilled.

The month Shaw'wal:

From the months of Hajj, Shaw'wal is the first of them. The first day of Shaw'wal is Eid-Ul-Fitr and also the day when sins are forgiven.

Six fasts of Shaw'wal:

In the month of Shaw'wal it is Sunnah to keep six fasts, as narrated in the following Hadeeth by Abu Ayyub Ansar (RA) that the Holy Prophet (SAW) has said, "If one throughout his life keeps the fasts of Ramadan and keeps six consecutive fasts in Shaw'wal it will be as though he has kept a whole life time of fasts, and if one keeps the six consecutive fasts for one Shaw'wal month it will be as though he has observed fast all year round." - (Muslim)

Events which took place in Shaw'wal:

Hadhrat Aa'ishah Siddiqah (RA) was bom in Shaw'wal four years after Prophethood which is nine years before Hijrah.

KNOWLEDGE - A DIVINE LIGHT

Knowledge is a deep ocean without an ocean bed - the deeper a person dives the more mysteries of knowledge will open up for him.
By diving in the heavenly ocean he will be gifted with pearls and corals, the fruits of the ocean of knowledge.
Knowledge is a divine light which shades it's radiance on the path of life, guiding its followers through every phase of life. Knowledge is divine - it differentiates between good and evil.
So O Muslims! - Take up this quest - the quest for the search of knowledge.
Grasp it while you are healthy and fine.
Gain it with zeal and crave.
Gain it from the cradle to the grave...
