TABLIGHI
JAMAAT:
The effort of Tabligh, revived by Moulana
Ilyas Dehlawi (RA) is undoubtedly renowned in the
world and greatly effective in all corners of the world.
With a huge amount of help from Ulamaa like Moulana
Zakariyyah (RA), whose effort has encompassed people of
all nationalities, even in the darkest corners of the
world. We should take into account that their objective
was not only to spread the message and thereafter leave
it, but it is an effort to bring the Muslims back into
the garden of Islam.
You will see them walking in groups calling
people towards the Masjid. You will see onlookers
laughing at them. House members slamming the door on
them. Travelling to places for the sake of Deen without
the certainty of returning. Making the struggle of
getting up from their comfy beds for the concern of the
Ummah.
Moulana Ilyas Dehlawi (RA), the reviver of
such a virtuous effort, at that time was weak in
strength, skinny in stature. He would call upon the
Muslims to react, he would be beaten up, spat at and
mocked. A famous Scholar in Pakistan, Moulana
Zia-ur-Rahman, says in a speech, "If Mohammed (SAW) was
not slapped in Ta'if, then I swear by Allah, Moulana
Ilyas would not have been slapped. As his doings were a
replica, an imitation of that of (SAW)."
A point to mention, Allah states in the
Qur'an:
"Allah has preferred in rank the strivers
with their riches and lives above those who hold back."
(Surah Nisa)
Although this verse refers to the strivers
in the battlefield, the Tablighi Jamaat is not from
amongst those who sit back either, as their effort
consists of spending their riches and striving in life to
propagate Islam. As Allah himself says:
"And for those who strive hard in us (Our
Cause), we will surely guide them in to our path." (Surah
Al-Ankabut)
A hope that this pushes them to attain
their goal, which is the same goal of the strivers in the
battlefield, the elevation of the Kalima.
I request all brothers to carry on with the
work they are doing, but remember that if we do this work
with sacrifice, then Allah will surely show us all the
beautiful outcome. - Sacrifice is the key.
"You cannot attain Virtue (acceptance)
unless you spend of what you love (All that is dear to
you - family/health)." - (Surah Al-Imran)
