TABLIGH
(Propogation)
AND ITS
Origin
Allah Taa'la states: "Call them to thy Lord
with wisdom and good exhortation." (Surah Nuh)
In Islam, a believer, after bringing faith
upon Allah, His Messenger (SAW) and all the
pre-requisites must remain steadfast upon his faith. The
Messenger of Allah (SAW) has stated in an authentic
Hadith:
"Say, I believe in Allah and thereafter
stand firm." (Muslim, Tinnizi)
After bringing faith, remain steadfast on
it. Take your faith to such a level whereby it is strong
enough to fight off any alien beliefs. The daily prayers,
fasting, wearing of Islamic clothes etc, all play a major
role in aiding steadfastness.
Therefore, a believer must observe his
prayers and all other forms of worship, and at the same
time, observe all acts of the Sunnah, wear and respect
the clothing of our Prophet (SAW), his companions and our
pious predecessors. The sooner a believer leaves the
Sunnah, the sooner he will be led astray.
The Qur'anic verse which was mentioned
above talks about propagating Islam with words of wisdom
that can aspire people. After faith, one must practice
upon the knowledge he gains. One of the reasons being is
that by practising upon his knowledge, solely for the
pleasure of Allah, he will acquire more knowledge. I only
mention this because the propagation of Islam (Tabligh)
is not a small act, but it is in fact an act of great
virtue and significance, carried out by every Prophet
sent to this world, by learning and practising, one gains
experience, through which Allah grants him wisdom of" a
certain kind. The Prophet (SAW) states:
"There is no wise person except an
experienced person."
One often learns from experience that which
cannot be found in books. And as the Qur'anic verse
states that Tabligh goes hand in hand with wisdom and
good manners.
Around the world, we see that there are
many movements and efforts taking place in order to
spread Islam. All praise to Allah that every year
students are graduating from Muslim Colleges and
establishing many different methods of Da'wah. Some
movements and efforts are more effective than others.
Unfortunately, there are also such movements that instead
of reaching their true goal, have unknowingly diverted
themselves from their intended paths.
However, Allah has mentioned that, "Call
people to his path with wisdom." Many people thereby
introduce new forms of Da'wah. Without any doubt, this
act is of great virtue and I hope that Allah will reward
them generously for their efforts. Even though there are
so many movements and efforts, our propagation is not
attaining much success. Islam is still not overcoming
non-Islamic beliefs. Now this is either because Islam is
not being spread effectively or we aren't spreading Islam
properly! An intellectual person would say that our
methods and ideas to propagate Islam are failing in
comparison to those used in the past. New methods of
Da'wah such as broadcasting by means such as radio,
television, the internet are all are all beneficial to a
certain extent, there is certainly no doubt about that,
but they are all ineffective to a certain degree.
(Remember every bit of effort that is made for the sake
of Allah, one will receive reward for it.) Allah is not
one who will waste ones efforts even if their outcome be
unsuccessful. As Allah mentions:
"Whoever desires a reward in the hereafter,
we will grant him thereof." (Surah Al-Imran)
