The
Pious Women
HADHRAT UMME QAIS BINT MIHSAN (RA) -
She was the sister of Hadhrat Ukkaashah Ibn Mihsan (RA) who
was from amongst the companions of the Prophet (SAW) who
participated in the battle of Badr. She embraced Islam in the
early days of Makkah and migrated to Madinah with her
household. She has narrated from the Holy Prophet (SAW) -
Hadhrat Ubaydah Ibn Abdullah Ibn Utbah has narrated that Umme
Qais sister of Ukkaashah Ibn Mihsan has said,
"I bought my son in the presence of the Holy Prophet (SAW)
who did not eat food (i.e. he was still a suckling child). The
Holy Prophet (SAW) sat him in his lap and he urinated upon the
Holy Prophet's (SAW) clothes. The Holy Prophet (SAW) asked for
water and sprinkled it upon his clothes, and did not
(thoroughly) wash it."
Hadhrat Durrah Bint Mu'aadh (RA) narrates from Umme Qais
(RA) that she once questioned the Holy Prophet(SAW), "When we
shall die, shall we go to see each other?" The Holy Prophet
(SAW) replied, "Bodies will be in form of birds hanging onto
Jannah until the day of judgement, when every soul will enter
its body."
Ubaidullah Ibn Abdullah also narrates that Umme Qais Bint
Mihsan (RA) was from those first migrating women that took an
oath of allegiance upon the hands of Holy Prophet (SAW). She
was the sister of Ukkaashah and she brought in the service of
Holy Prophet (SAW) a son of hers in whose neck she had tied a
piece of thread due to him suffering pain. The Holy Prophet
(SAW) said,
"Why do you remedy your children through this mean. Make
compulsory upon
yourselves the use of aloeswood, because there are remedies in
it; from amongst
them the remedy of pleurisy (a form of pneumonia) also."
